@stephen_usher hopefully I can just trim the membrane and get it to work.
I did have a look at that power supply page and it appears they use two independent power supplies to provide the voltages required, very similar to a C64 PSU I built, so I think I may have a bit of fun and make one of my own.
@rubber_jonnie @Icky gimme a chance to get it working first. I’ve also got an MSX 2 coming, so don’t need any more encouragement

Looks like a nice fixer-upper I have replaced all the microdrive's but one on my spectrums with vDrives SD version you can fit them in the ql without any issues.

Ideally yes, but I just went for the GoldCard due to cost vs the amount of time I have to use the QL :)

The biggest problem for the re-created GC and SGC are that Tetroid, the creator, is now behind the new iron curtain in Siberia, so it's impossible to buy them.

I contacted Tetroid directly on SellMyRetro in late November last year, and we did a deal because of the £135 international shipping minimum at the time meant he couldn't sell them direct through SellMyRetro.
The item including shipping was less than the £135 minimum, and the GC wasn't that much, though the SGC would have been.
Sadly I don't see his items on SMR as of today.

That's because, (a) you can't send money to Russians any more, and (b) Russia has banned the export of all electronic equipment.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Once I’ve got it working I’ll decide just how far I want to take the whole QL thing as I’ve never ever used one before.
It’ll likely be SD card and memory upgrade at least I’d have thought.
