Okay, yeah; rigging the meanwell PSU takes all the noise away. The wailing was so pervasive from that old tokin supply that I didn't believe the noise was all PSU
Anyway, neat, got what seems to be a TOS 1.0 STF with red LEDs and a long-button drive. I've never had one so old before!
I do like the red LEDs and big buttons too, but that TOS 1.0 has got to go :)

My original 1040STF has red LEDs plus TOS 1.0 (since upgraded to 1.04)... easier since it was the 6 ROM version, though the 'silly' layout with ROMs under the PSU.
The latest addition (1040STFM) has 2 chip TOS 1.02 and the short floppy button (Epson SMD400) with a 70789 mainboard, so I'm suspecting it's quite a late version to have the red LEDs?

Might just have been an old stock keyboard that they used.
I think I've seem machines manufactured as late as 1988 with red LEDs.
