Another ebay antic that gets my goat, the seller of the C128 has updated their status to say 'away until Feb 26' AFTER I have bought their item :x :x

That's really a bit crap, I hate that. And also when you find the item you really need, and it turns out the seller is away.

given the recent experience of @exxos, I would just not wait and get a refund right now.

I've messaged them to see what they say, everywhere has internet these days, unless he's a submariner or something

I mean I can understand if there's no physical access to the item, but I don't want to get fleeced, nothing in their feedback indicates any issues.

So the seller has responded and says the item _will_ be posted on Saturday, they have changed their status to halt other items for the time being. Fingers crossed.

Well, I sorta hope the 128 does come because I've already started buying bits for it.

This little widget sits under the VDC chip, isolates it from the 128's onboard 16k of video ram, and presents it with the 64k of ram on itself.

vdc.jpg

There's not really any games that use the VDC, but there are a few gfx packages, and lots of cool demos, so worth a punt as this was pretty cheap.

Another mod I want to make is a switchless kernel rom switcher, it's slightly more complicated on the 128 than on the 64 because it has 2 sets of kernals, 1 for 128 mode, and 1 for 64 mode. My C64 switchless kernel relies on the RESTORE key which is linked to the CPU NMI - clearly there's only one of these keys on the 128, so it will cycle both ROMs on the switcher. So what this means is that If I'm in 64 mode and switch roms, the 128 rom will also change, so when I switch mode back I'll likely have to switch rom again and then the 64 one also changes.

If anyone has any bright ideas of how to overcome that I'm all ears :D

Oh and I'll have to come up with a 27c020 to 27c256 adapter because I want to have a choice of up to 8 roms on the 128 side

Had a bit of a tidy/sort round of all my electronics stuff today. Realised that I may have a bit of a problem, I counted 83 development boards, various atmel/stm32/esp/fpga types. And this is just the stuff that hasn't actually made it into projects - although there's a load of test build systems in the tub.

So the C128 seller still has not marked the item as dispatched :x

I've asked for the tracking number by the end of the day, will cancel the order after that. Debating buying a C128D instead.
