Glad you were able to save it. Those dreaded batteries. I have my own VARTA bad dreams to this day ;)
I had a similar issue with an Amiga 2000 a few years back but luckily I was able to get it out before it caused any serious damage and neutralized the area in which the battery acid had leaked.
I can't say the same for a few of those A500 trapdoor expansions I had in storage some years back. Those batteries destroyed them beyond any kind of repair I would have been capable of at least.
