Prices for most things are daft. I was looking through all the retro "spares or repair" listings and many of them are asking for more than a working system or just wacky prices in general. (e.g. £150 for an Apricot monitor and keyboard, no actual machine, and they looked in quite poor condition.)

I think Covid has sparked a lot of retro activity and it's caused prices to go up, with certain n'er do wells trying to sell any crap they can to people who don't fully understand what they are buying and paying through the nose for it.

Fingers crossed once things get back to some kind of normalcy retro will be out of favour and prices will become more sensible.

Well yes it has, but I think covid, with furlough and lots of people at home waiting to go back to work has accelerated it somewhat faster. I've been seeing 8bit Atari's going for the same as I paid for my MSTE last year.

It's not a great time to buy, though it is still possible to get a bargain here and there.

Well, I was looking at a "barn find" Apricot F1, which looked crushed and really rusty. For a pound plus shipping it looked interesting but it's now up to £10 with a couple of days to go, which is way over priced for something that badly beaten up and likely complete scrap.

Erm.... You know that Apricot F1 I talked about earlier being a bit too expensive... Well... erm... I got it for £20 (plus postage). :oops:

I happen to have found a full schematic too... 99% 74LS logic + (6164) RAM + 8086, so whatever state it's in it should be fixable.
