On a brighter note... R. Czuba is certainly approachable, I'm in contact with him every now and then. Not sure what "firm" you are referring to but he is perfectly reachable on his decade old email address available at his website: http://powerphenix.com ... he is busy but maybe it's not impossible to get him to look on your Falcon.
When it comes to the symptoms, sure, changing the NVRAM IC (Dallas) & PSU is the first thing to try, especially if you didn't do anything "stupid". However having a screen like that can be caused by other issues, too - for instance if there is an issue with the clockpatch resistors (R216, R221, R222) - cut, shorted, damaged, ... all sorts of strange things can happen.
