I am also generally opposed to the buffer. In the '90s you could buy external A1200 ide buffers, I wonder if those are still available and if they would work with the 536? But for me they are useless since the advent of CF cards.

It seems to be fashionable in Germany to store your hard disk in the room next door? Thats where all the complaints have come from.

If it helps to know, I use a ~12-14" IDE cable with CF adapter on my A1200 to exit out the backplate next to Mouse port and everything seems ok.

There is a break-out type buffered ide device which supports up to 4 different devices available at Amiga Kit that works with A600 & A1200 ide ports. But as Alen indicated not sure if they would work with the ide port of a TF card, they are also bulky and expensive.

Might be ok not to buffer it if we think about TF536 as an A500 accelerator only, however reality is that many A2000 users are interested in this card, and hope to install it as soon as it becomes available, also some AMY ATX users have sent me a bunch of requests already. there is a big problem if ide isn't buffered in big boxes, since cable length need to be 30 - 40cm long, so yeah... im for buffered ide with both hands ☺

I have one of these I can send you if you want to reverse engineer it?

I vote no buffers, but what do I know.
Maybe make a "proper" slotted CPU card for the A2000 with IDE? That is pretty niche, though.

If those are available easily then its a no from me too. Its utterly pointless to put options on a board by default.

Would rather solder 2 ics and 2 caps instread of ordering a separate pcb and populate it, however will be happy to any decision.
