My success was to name the server ip..

in the shared drive I just put /atari (my folder) no ip address anything.. just exactly what the folders name was.

The shared drive is on my PC, and //CHRIS//SHAREFOLDER does bring up the folder on my PC.. but //192.168.0.2/SHAREFOLDER doesn't ? The IP address if correct for my PC.. but I assume this is why cosmo is failing to access the folder..

..anyone any ideas what's going on ?
Long shot... but I had very similar issues recently.

So I recently got mine working again on my MSTE, and the problem was fixed by changing the login.

I have a Windows domain, so I was pointing at a share on a Windows 2012 server and was using the username in the format of: Domain_name\username.

You'd expect this to be the case, but it wouldn't mount on the CosmosEx. It had been this way since an update so I can only assume there was some sort of Samba update. I took a punt and removed "Domain_name\" leaving just the username, and it sprang back into life and has been fine ever since.

What I do need to do is check and see if that format works for a share on a Win7 PC on the same domain, which I'll do and report back.

I think I tried all sorts of combinations and gave up in the end. The annoying thing about it all, is once its all setup and working, I'll not use it for a week, to back and its not working again.

I may give it one last try in my H4, but likely I will just put it up for sale as I just dont have endless hours of free time to keep throwing at stuff :(

Ok, I just did a quick test to a Win 7 PC with a share, and it's working fine using just the username.

So my suggestions are:

1. Don't use a format of Domain_name\username
2. Don't use a format of PC_Name\username
3. Don't use a format of IP_Address\username

Simply put your username instead as below:

Cosmos_Shared.jpg

Looking at the CosmosEx web config page (The one on the CosmosEx itself, not Jookies home page, it does create the string of IP_Address\Share_Name so I think it is probably automatically creating a username of IP_Address\username.

I may try and verify this with a network packet capture, but it would explain the use of any of the above formats failing.

if I get back early enough tonight I will give it a try. Though I don't think I even set the folder up with a password. It was all just public as in had trouble getting it to work in the first place.

Be interesting to see how you get on.

No need to use \\Share_Name either, just Share_Name.

I tried every combination I could think of for all settings. Would be interesting to try on a H4 anyway as it has all known fixes done whereas before I would have been using a original board.

Maybe look at your windows share path with another computer on the network. Windows sometime puts is machine name in the network path.
