checked pictures of WARP540/560 accelerators - there are several solutions
1. 2x D-Pack's (seems it's for 040 CPUs)
2. onboard LM2596 replacement (switching type)

have checked Warp540 power rails and how they solved it, they implemented power supply on PCB
D-Pack is a no go

So my take on this might be to evaluate a bunch of different solutions with the current rev0 board and see what happens.

Although i'm leaning towards what @exxos posted I thought that the ISL line of chips might be worth a look. They're used in Macbook Air and Macbook Pro's from what i can tell. (not this specific chip though)

There's millions of the things from various manufacturers. That particular one you posted needs a external coil. I went with external coil as I wanted to experiment, while it was a squash on my board, the cost per part is also a factor. That one I suggested was one I found on texas, I tend to use their parts in general. I didn't check any other sites.

Yes, indeed You are right..

Well, LM78XX installed now is to weak, that's for sure, this may be a reason for hangs and instabilities.
I recommend to buy an external 5A DC-DC converter and do measurements to see how much current card needs, then add about 1 - 1,5A just to be sure, and then look around what we can get, that's the plan..
