DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

Re: White Screen on an A500
I replaced the Fat Anus socket. Removing the old socket was a lot of work. I decided to cut it away with the side cutters thinking I could heat the pins and pull them out easily. The plastic around the sides was brittle and broke off easily. The plastic base of the socket was not at all brittle and seemed to be stuck to the board with no space in between. I heated it up a bit, not hot enough to melt solder, until the edges curled up. That was hard work to remove.
The pins all broke off immediately when I pulled them, leaving 2 to 3mm left. Super. :D I managed to remove them, it was just much harder to grab them with the pliers and heat them up.
The new socket, although it looks shinier and is springier than the old one, made no difference. CAS is s stuck high and pins 32 and 33 of the CPU, that is A4 and A5 respectively, pulse much slower than the other address lines.

I could say that I am dyslexic or that my keypad isn't working that well but I think it is perhaps a good description. 8-)

We could also say that the chip's name is quite biased from the start...

Can't wait for someone to start working with Fatter Anus or Obese Anus :)
I'm sorry, I may be in my 50s but my humour remains childish :)

Don't apologise. I didn't go to a posh school so we didn't learn Latin, but I always thought that Anus was Latin for Year. I also remember that when we did Science the planet Uranus was called Your Anus.

Maybe Commodore just printed it wrong and decided to stick with the name as it was?HigashiJun wrote: 30 Apr 2026 08:54 We could also say that the chip's name is quite biased from the start...

Re: White Screen on an A500
"Annus" is the Latin word for year, but "Anus" means exactly what it means...
Better not to confuse then "Annus Horribilis" with "Anus Horribilis".
BTW, check the meaning of the word "Uranian" and you'll see that it has a direct connotation with "Uranus"...

I didn't know what a Uranian was. A typing error can certainly result in more interest in what you have written than would otherwise be the case.
I think in Millennium 2.2 the settlers of Uranus became Hydrogoids, but it has been a while.
