DO NOT USE DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time it is unfortunately not possible to white list users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

@highzeth

So I thought after we talked I'd revisit the Famicom jailbars and realised that with that upgrade installed, the cap across pins 20/22 of the PPU actually make NO difference at all.

When I was picking up video direct from pin 21 of the PPU it did make it look better, but when the PPU circuit is as normal (As it is for this upgrade) that particular jailbar fix is redundant.

As it goes the current jailbar situation is as I said, only really on big blocks of blue and is equivalent to the direct connect to the PPU via pin 21 with a comp mod WITH the cap, so it's really OK.

I will have a look though, see if there are any other options for improvement.

I'd still recommend the upgrade though :)

@rubber_jonnie

Here is a good video worth watching if you want to get rid of the jailbars:

It's in Japanese, but it's easy to understand what has to be done.

Thanks, I'll have a look 😁

EDIT - That's quite extensive work in terms of cap replacement and modding the PPU output. I'll have to have a think about that.

Of course, the other way to look at the jail bars is that they're part of the charm of a nearly 40 year old design. :-)
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

That's also a commendable point of view.

I don't entirely disagree with that PoV.

Well, while I try to decide if I let the jailbars go or fix them, I at least have the replacement rubbers coming through for controller 2, and they're in the country :)

That'll be up soon, and controller 2 is slightly different in that it has no start/select buttons, just the D-Pad and buttons A & B. However it does have a microphone, though not sure what software it works with.
