DO NOT USE DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time it is unfortunately not possible to white list users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

Falcon + CUBASE AUDIO + SCSI - Experiences?

Could not find this DMA2DSP.PRG thingy. Anyone with a link?

Are there any other programs, other than cubase that cause same behaviour in particularly that red LED going out?

Ok, run the three tests with V3 patch in standard delay mode.

Phase 1 - Stock falcon - All is good
Phase 2 - DFB1X in disable mode - All is good
Phase 3 - DFB1X in OPTION mode - Digital noise/crackles, red led flashes

For me, with or without delay makes no difference, scenarios are consistent.
As soon as DFB1X is active at its basic thing (no TT Ram, 16 MHz) I get audio issues.

If I remove all jumpers, activate MAPROM_C and ALTRAMFX, my Cubase Audio works for a few minutes as it should and then enters the digital bit crushing mode. This however is not accompanied with all LEDs flashing, rather just audio issues.Might be an indication that the bus or board is more stable, but the audio issues still occurs.

Another thing, although Cubase 2.06 PRG is not configured to use any TTRam mode, when it plays audio while being active, the blue TT Ram led flashes as like it is being used. Strange....

Maprom uses TTram for ROM access. It may be better not to use MAPROM currently to simplify things as maprom does other strange stuff..

I did watch your videos again and sometimes the red light flashes off and other times it does not appear to but it may actually flash very fast that the naked eye cannot see it.

Audio crackles would be related to the clock patch. So would you say version 3 patch is working better than version 4 in relation to audio crackles?

The bit crashing problem as you describe it is a different problem entirely which I don't believe anyone has witnessed yet, so I think this is a completely different problem than the typical clock patch and audio issues.

I'm not sure if this then taints the results you had with the version 4 patche as now we know or at least there seems to be two entirely different problems which we did not know before.

Does anyone else have a DFB1/X and Cubase to see if anyone else can replicate the same issues?

Are they midi files? I don't have a keyboard anymore.. Unless cubase does more than midi? I have no idea.

There's a site with various versions of cubase I found..

Cubase Audio does DMA sound so you’d expect to see a lot of bus arb activity, but maybe 50% duty cycle at worst? I can’t imagine what must be going on to cause such a discrepancy between bus mastery (LED on) and DMA (LED off).

Like I say, I’ll wager there is some special sauce Cubase Audio SCSI code in play that’s so finely tuned to the clock frequency that it’s thrown by the longer (more complex) bus arbitration going on with the double CPUs.

The reason I asked about CT60 is it’s one of the few other accelerators I know that must perform a similar dance (it doesn’t need soldering). CT2 is a closer analogue to DFB1, but I think you had to disable the onboard CPU for that.

I do wonder what the Cubase CT60 patch does, but it may simply be a FPU fix for running on an 060. Can the CT60 patch run on an 030?

For me, V3 works better than V4 as I do not have audio crackles (the classical problem) with V3 whereas I had them with V4.

I am using Cubase Audio with both MIDI and audio files that I record from midi instruments and that is where I see problems, recording and playing back audio files. As such, the song I am using for all my tests is just audio files (there are midi tracks there but they do not participate in this).

I also think we are looking at two different problems. A general clock one that impacts both stock and DFB1X variations and a specific digital bit crushing one that manifests itself only when DFB1X is installed and active.

My current solution for a closed box Falcon is to have a rocker switch that disables DFB1X whenever I work with Cubase Audio, and Enabled for any other use. I wish I could have solved the Cubase Audio thing with DFB1X as the computer runs so much faster....

I tried Ace Tracker and without DFB1X is loads and works as should however with it I can not get the UI to load as it gets stuck mid load with the green DSP led stuck on always on. Is that what the other person who discussed his Ace Tracker issues experience as well?

No idea. I guess simple enough to try.
