Welcome to the club I also have been fascinated with these and my PPC640 I also thought about trying to fit an ISA XT IDE inside. I never got round to it but ended up buying this expansion board allowing me to use an XT-IDE and the PicoMem and sound cards too. viewtopic.php?p=93131#p93131rubber_jonnie wrote: 12 Mar 2025 14:15 Boots up fine and the screen works, contrast is adjustable and screen is readable. I'd like to replace the display with a backlit one, but we'll see. I'd also like to see if I can shoehorn an XT-IDE in if possible.

Not as such, it's more a 'What's out there that is interesting that isn't a stupid price'.danboid wrote: 12 Mar 2025 20:42 There can't be many home computers left now that that you don't own. Do you have a bucket (thimble) list?
I don't have many PCs and this came up for a very good price. I'm not too bothered about PC's as it goes, but I like what I have.
However there is a lot in the home computer arena from the 70's & 80's, when it seemed like in the UK a computer was launched every week, that I would like, but are out of what I'd class as sensible price ranges.
For example, there are the Atari 800, ZX80, Osbourne 1, Kaypro, Jupiter Ace, the Grundy Newbrain, Camputers Lynx, Memotech MTX, Sam Coupe, Elan Enterprise etc, the list goes on. All too expensive.
Then there are others like the the Tangerine Microtan and NASCOM1 which have just seem to vanished off the face of the earth.
For some, like the Science of Cambridge MK14, and OSI 600D/UK101, there are replicas which I've built, but even they aren't cheap from a component perspective. At least if you're building a replica it is possible to spread the cost out over time.
I now have all the machines that crossed my path when I was young, plus what I owned personally, so anything now is going to either be something I get cheaper than normal or something unusual. I did at one point suggest I'd collected enough, but I just can't help myself...

That's the board I'm likely going with. I just can't seem to find any for sale, they are out of stock on Tindie. Where did you get your kit from?Icky wrote: 13 Mar 2025 05:53Welcome to the club I also have been fascinated with these and my PPC640 I also thought about trying to fit an ISA XT IDE inside. There is an Internal CF adapter that fits in place of the modem, however it's as yet untested so I'm not keen on ordering PCB's for something untested.
I have to add, they seem to be a very dense machine.

My home computer bucket list would be (in no order)
- Sam Coupe (Recently acquired)
- Atari TT 030
- Acorn Atom
- Elan Enterprise 128
- Oric Telestrat (although I have an Atmos)
- Jupiter Ace
- Fujitsu FM Towns
- Sharp X68000

Aside from the Oric, we have cross compatible bucket lists :)alexh wrote: 13 Mar 2025 10:51I'd be interested to know too :)danboid wrote: 12 Mar 2025 20:42 There can't be many home computers left now that that you don't own. Do you have a bucket (thimble) list?

I'd add a Tangerine Microtan to my list though. Possibly also an NEC Supergrafx too. Most on that list are not cheap though.
I would like a real PDP and Altair 8800 but I will settle for the replica's because it's just not a realistic possibility.

Ah if we include the realm of games consoles my bucket list gets a lot bigger.

It definitely widens the collecting pool...alexh wrote: 13 Mar 2025 11:17Ah if we include the realm of games consoles my bucket list gets a lot bigger.
I have a PC Engine Duo and it's a great console, but there are some specific Supergrafx games it just won't run, and I would like to try.
