Splendid, looks like the CX80 will be here tomorrow, so I'll need to break out an A8 and Missile command to give it a good test :)

Well it arrived:

And what a way to play Missile Command :)

It looks like a much earlier version of the CX80 than I had, mine was brown to match my XL, but this one is black.

I did pull it apart to clean the ball & rollers plus I dropped a little lube in the bearing too, it's very smooth and in great overall condition.

That looks the same as the one I bought back in the 80s...I'd better dig it out and give it a try at some point... ;)

Nice. I think the CX22 colour matches the XL?

I'm not really an Atari 8-bit collector as back in the day they were so much more expensive than Spectrum or Amstrad (or Dragon 32) so I have no nostalgia for them

I think the CX22 had an orange ball, which isn't the one I had. The one I had was identical in shape/style but was a different colour and slightly different labels. It's interesting that you think the Atari's were expensive, my 800XL was £99 and my 65XE (I still have it) was &79.99. Admittedly the 1050 FDDs were expensive, but you only really needed the one. IIRC the Trackball I had was a slightly different build that allowed removal of the ball without dismantling the case, but I may be remembering it wrong.

I think the CX22 was specifically aimed at the 2600 & 5200.

I had a 600XL, 800XL and later the 65 XE, I kind of wish I hadn't part-exed them for a Megadrive, but hell, I have them all back now :)

I've thought about getting a 130XE but only because they look like a mini Atari ST which I have so much affinity for :)
