I suppose this post would normally go in the server updates thread but it's more of a rant anyway..

I report IPs to the abuseipdb every hour. Their server kept timing out as the submission takes ages. They had their timeout of 60 seconds and I said it needed to be 200 seconds to submit anywhere near 10,000 IPs in a batch. They did up the time, but even submitting 6,000 IPs was as good as I can get it. It had been fine for months. Now I keep getting timeout errors again

The error code I get back now is HTTP 524 . So I looked up that code..

I reported the issue to abuseipdb AGAIN.

Looks like something is limiting the submission to 125 seconds. Sometimes a submission works at around 30-40 seconds, but that's only for 2,000 IPs. Something is running very slow somewhere. There's over 100k IPs to report in the list even just over the past couple days.

I tried dropping reporting IPs to 2,000 and its only half working. So something is broken their end somewhere. Even though I think reporting IPs would help and support others using the same system, it that system is going to break often, then it's properly just not going to be worth my time. I try and help communities out, but I just don't have time to keep messing about when services outside of my control keep breaking.

So a submission of 1,700 IPs seems to work. But it gets close to the 125 second timeout "their end" . It will hardly keep up with the attacking IPs at that rate

Cloudflare still getting in the way of submitting my abuse reports. Its beyond ridiculous the amount of hassle I get because of them blocking me from doing even basic stuff !

Now have a queue of 302,987 IPs and rising every second ! Still no reply from abuseipdb. I don't think they care.

I've noticed the first submission seems to work then the next where I had a 10 second delay.. fails.. I tried 300 seconds.. still second batch failed. So now trying half hour delay..

I mean I try and support communities by submitting IPs which are constantly attacking my server. But now its like everything else, just a uphill battle where I think, why bother ?

It's not like I am being paid to deal with all this stuff. I always try support the cause and "do my bit" but I'm going to have to start dropping more and more stuff and things will just have to remain broken and not deal with in all in order to free up some of my time.


I wasted a bunch of time looking into accounting software because HMRC will end up forcing me to use it in a couple of years no doubt. Trying to get ahead of the game a bit.. I went with clearbooks.co.uk and 2 months later.. The issues with Lloyds bank are still not fixed.. I mean imagine me trying to explain to HMRC why my tax reports are late because the software doesn't work.. It is me who will end up getting to trouble over it all. So now I have to start again and look for different accounting software.. What a total waste of time !

Not only that being banned of Facebook is limited my communication with my girlfriend online. So now wasting my time trying to find some alternatives to communicate with her older than going back to text messaging which doesn't really help sending screenshots and trying to figure out stock issues and whatnot.

This is always where all my time ends up going and I barely have time to do any actual work because I'm just perpetually stuck in cycles of having to deal with things I shouldn't be having to deal with in the first place

What a huge colossal waste of time everything is these days!! Even with A.I. fixing like 95% of my problems these days. I still don't seem to be making any headway as problems stack up faster than I can solve them all the time
