Not tried it in the case yet...
...but while programming up a second EPROM (to go in the original H5C1) I noticed some of the pins on the EPROM from this board were a little off centre, so I've put the newly programmed one in this new H5C1...and it now boots :D
Since I've not yet fitted the power cable for the floppy, I can't get further than a blank desktop but it counts as progress!
If I can, I'll solder in that floppy power cable tonight & see if a floppy can be read...

DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

Indeed - and I'm starting to share your loathing of PLCC sockets...
We'll see if things progress much further later this evening I guess...

Oh you don't know anything about loathing plcc sockets until you try surface mount onesJezC wrote: 13 Apr 2024 18:05 Indeed - and I'm starting to share your loathing of PLCC sockets...

 Yep, If you push bent pins into a cheap socket, it buggers it up normally. So you end up changing the sockets. Its why the H5 uses 3M sockets. They take a lot more abuse.

Well, I fitted the floppy power lead and the board is again booting to only show a white screen (keyboard LED is lit, getting about 5.09v on the +5v rail)...
So looks like it will need even more diagnosing at the weekend or next week. :(
I'm out tomorrow (leaving very early & back late) so little chance of anything more before Thursday

I'll get a photo late tonight or tomorrow, depending on how late I get back home.
It's a white screen on boot again so I'm wondering if there is a poor connection somewhere and soldering in the floppy power lead disturbed something.
Not sure it's related to the floppy yet...needs a bit more diagnosis...

Just my 2cents, I had no-end of issues with white screen on my H5, even though I had top-quality 3M sockets. In the end I got rid of the socketed chips and replaced them with the SMD variants (talking about the system chips) all my problems went away :)

Interesting...I'll try to remove, check pins & re-insert over the next day or so.Steve wrote: 17 Apr 2024 12:15 Just my 2cents, I had no-end of issues with white screen on my H5, even though I had top-quality 3M sockets. Won't be tonight as I was up at 4:30 am, out of the house all day & just back home in the last 15 minutes or so...feeling somewhat fatigued, so doing anything needing care and dexterity is not something to attempt at the moment! :)
I do have some SMT Glue & MMU chips but am saving those for the other H4/H5 boards...
