I'm using them, I have one with SST39LF802C and another with SST39LF401C.
Okay I'll give it a go, I've got some F800 chips
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

So... sprite based games is probably possible in 640x480x8bpp even on ISA cards.

This does a fullscreen blit to the backbuffer to clear/set the background.
Then blits 64 number of 64x64 sprites to it
Then a fullscreen blit from backbuffer to frontbuffer
(which isn't needed but I haven't hooked up the function for changing the screen pointer address)

Now I want to see if I can make them do flat shaded triangles in a sensible speed, by doing the scan conversion in software and then have the hardware draw all those horizontal lines.

Damn, If you tried that on a ST, it'd take 5 minutes per frame!

I'm slightly tempted to replace the gfxcard in my ST now. With the unaccelerated ET4000AX it probably would do the 5 minutes per frame :)

The CPU and bus is doing almost nothing in the sprite test. Just waiting for, and dispatching new commands to the blitter.
I think I need to make some kind of API that takes and manages command-lists of sort. To make it easier for programs to keep the CPU busy with game-logic or whatnot while the graphics card is doing its thing.
Too bad it looks like not all cards have "blitter-finished" interrupts. The WDC does but I can only find option for polling in the Cirrus Logic datasheet :/

This is the kind of thing I am interested in getting into on Raven - but I'm still trying to finish something on F030 among other things so it's just going to have to wait a bit longer... which is extra annoying!

Anyway its really interesting to see what you're doing here :)
