NOTE : Due to Micro$oft and antispam services such as Cloudflare are blocking my servers IP address, do not use such accounts to register on the wiki as you will not get the registration emails. See HERE and HERE for more information. Sadly I cannot fix third party issues even though I went to great lengths to try and do so.
Emails are sent automatically and instantly. You should wait a hour anyway as your email provider may suck. Also check your spam folders!!!
If you do not receive the email then you will have to contact your mail provider and request 185.52.2.172 be removed from being blocked. Alternatively use a different email provider which isn't governed by large companies such as Micro$oft, Google, Cloudflare etc. See HERE for suggestions.
Registering on the wiki.
Wiki accounts are available to everyone (except idiots and spammers etc) and can be registered by clicking the create button at the top right of the home page.
You then get taken to the usual sign up page.. Will be useful if you are on the forum to use your forum username on the wiki so I can keep track who is who easier...
You need to put a email address in because your account will have to be email verified before you are allowed to make any edits.
Afterwards you can login and you can view pages as usual. You then need to click on the preferences on the top right..
Then click the confirm email button.
You will instantly get an email from atari-wiki.com with a confirmation link where you just click it to confirm your account. Once you have done this you then can edit the pages. However these are under moderation for new users which will be explained in the next post.
NOTE: If you do not get the email, then your email provider or antispam services are junking or deleting these emails. In which case good look :)
You will not be able to post if you are still using Microsoft email addresses such as Hotmail etc

DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

Re: Creating a wiki account
Moderation queue.
When you users make any changes to the wiki, your edits will be hidden from public view until they have been approved by a moderator. You can still edit your page or do other edits on the wiki meanwhile. Of course any edits you do will also be entered into the moderation queue.
NOTE FOR MODERATORS / ADMINS
You'll get a pop-up message similar to this if there is something pending approval.
When clicking on the link it will take you to a page similar to this. So I suggest clicking on the (diff) link to see what was changed in the pages.
For example.
So you can see the changes which were made. Obviously the changes are legitimate quick approve, or if someone has deliberately trashed something then obviously disapprove.
Admin's do not need to have their edits approved. Updates are always instantaneous. Moderators and any trusted people are welcome to have a admin account, assuming you are a known trusted user on this forum. But admin accounts will not be given out unless there is clear indication of much intended work to be carried out. Admin accounts may be also be revoked at any time.
Users who continuously do good edits to the wiki may also be promoted to admin. New users will all be on the moderation list. Partly because it is a antispam measure. It's far too easy for anyone to create account and cause havoc, be it spammers or malicious people etc. After spending much time removing all the spam and fixing all the problems, it is not something I want to risk happening again. I'm not doing all that work for a second time :)

Re: Creating a wiki account
Wiki Content.
Not much to really say about this other than the wiki should basically have Atari related content.
Though as per this forum, uploading massive amounts of files for many huge images should be kept to a minimum. The resolution of 1600px wide max is what is allowed on the forum and is generally fine. There could be exceptions to this where high res images are needed such as motherboards etc. But please note we do not have unlimited storage. So if you're uploading images, please don't upload 100's of 20MB JPGs as 99% of the time its just not needed.
Similar with files. Generally floppies are compressed down to like 300K or thereabouts. So uploading thousands of these isn't going to be a problem. Or indeed thousands of images if they are only small in file size.
Overall just try and not be a storage hog and be economical where possible thanks :)
