alexh wrote: 24 Nov 2023 13:19 Definitely the right thing to do. I've looked at lots of photos of A5000 repairs in preparation to do mine and every one has rot under those connectors even if the pins are not green.
Yeah, I have to agree. It does look like it's escaped very lightly though, but the traces are super fine and you just never know.

So, after a long and boring day at work, I found some precious time to continue my repairs.

The broken pin in one of the FDD connectors is now repaired:

and only two traces are fixed !

The trickier ones are for later.

As I am running out of overcoat epoxy, I will cover all the repaired traces later on, once the epoxy reaches me.

Much neater than my own repairs!

Looking good. I always wanted a wedge shaped Archimedes. An A3000, A3010, A3020. But they were so sought after the prices are really high and they suffer from battery self destruct so badly I went for this cheap A5000 Alpha (£79) but mine is not in as good condition as yours or @rubber_jonnie's and so it has languished on my desk for so long. I probably couldn't find the screws or remember how to re-assemble it.

It's a shame, it'd be really good if you could revive it, but they can be troublesome things, though you have both of us for advice now.

My one wish would be the OS was a bit friendlier!!!
