Yeah I hear ya there. I don't think my falcon will live much longer the amount of stuff which has been plugged in and out of it over the years.. I dare not try clock patches much now, as one more solder could be its last..coonsgm wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 11:09 pm I love mine! DO NOT USE DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time it is unfortunately not possible to white list users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

Oddly the mask the 68030 CPUs have isn't listed on
https://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/68030/Mo ... RC50C.html
Most common ones seem to be 01F91C (but likely reprinted anyway) , The ones I have are 06D78C and look like 2008 manufactured. I think these may even be running a lot cooler, but need to do more tests to prove that yet..

More CPU's just turned up. These are not stamped in the normal way either. Seems to be 2009 production .

It's crazy how long Freescale took to build them! Week 46 of 2009.exxos wrote: Tue Oct 07, 2025 5:25 pm More CPU's just turned up. These are not stamped in the normal way either. Seems to be 2009 production .

I hope they're not fakes!
Life is too short not to have an Amiga/Atari.
Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
Shouldn't be. My UK brokers only buy parts with a papertrail back to the manufacture. So all should be genuine new parts. The last batch were all fine. If they are bad, they get sent back. But been busying parts from them for many years now and I don't think I ever had any faulty parts. I did return some CPU's a few months ago, I only returned them as the condition looked very bad.kohli79 wrote: Tue Oct 07, 2025 5:43 pm It's crazy how long Freescale took to build them! Funky! I'd not sure I'd buy one that looked like that if I saw it on eBay! Wowzers.exxos wrote: Tue Oct 07, 2025 5:25 pm More CPU's just turned up. These are not stamped in the normal way either. Seems to be 2009 production .

Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
This looks like a very interesting project. Glad I found it. It looks like with this accelerator, it will make the Falcon the fastest 68030 Atari computer.
After reading all 24 pages of this thread, and seeing all the accelerator images, it's nice to see that there's so many Atari Falcon owners out there! I do have a few questions I hope someone might be able to answer.
1. I know the FPU needs to be removed, and on-board TOS can be disabled with 1 wire between the accelerator and Falcon MB. But what about RAM? I already have an Exxos 14MB expansion card in my Falcon. Do you leave it in place? Does it get used by the Falcon + 128MB TTRAM?
2. What are people using for cooling the 68030? I have a 68030 in my Amiga 1200, and I'm now upgrading to a TF1260, and it too doesn't have any cooling. A Falcon and A1200 have about the same space under the keyboard, and unlike A1200, the Falcon does have a factory fan (I upgraded mine to a Nactua) Does the accelerator really need active cooling?
3. How is game compatibility? I know that it's a bit of a stretch to get some games (especially the older ones) to run on the stock Falcon (not without patches) but the 50Mhz 68030? Or is this upgrade really just for newer desktop replacements / more modern apps / mp3 players / web browser support?

1 - Leave the Falcon RAM in place. The Fastram on the board will be available to use for software that can and designated through setting a fastram flag - I can't remember exactly the program name, but you can set which software uses fastram and which do not.leonk wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 2:19 am This looks like a very interesting project. 2 - With my DFB1x, I use a low profile heatsink and then have a small fan blowing from the left side of the case towards the accelerator. I believe it's just a small 12v 3D printer fan that I have plugged into a 5V output...so it's not running full out and is still really quiet. Do I need it? Haven't really tested thoroughly, but since I like my Falcon, I'd rather err on the side of caution.
3 - The nice thing about the accelerator is that you toggle it on / off for compatibility. I run a simple switch out through the cartridge port opening and attach to the case with some velcro. A fair amount of games also work under the 50mhz mode. I would say it's more compatible than my CT63 when accelerated and the ease to just toggle off makes the DFB1X the winner on compatibility.
Re: DFB1X Falcon booster buyers interests
Interesting!! That's something many other accelerators can't do! You don't even need to drill a hole in the case for the switch! So the switch controls accelerator/on-board ROM on/off. In off mode, I assume it works because the accelerator is able to jumper the correct pins on the CPU expansion slot to use the on-board CPU.coonsgm wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 2:31 am 3 - The nice thing about the accelerator is that you toggle it on / off for compatibility.
