Are the pins hard to fit if the square goes in first?exxos wrote: Mon Apr 23, 2018 5:46 pm
If anything, the squares might have to be fraction smaller than the CPU. Square is actually quite hard to fit in even with just one row of pins inserted.

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS
Collector of many retro things!
800XL and 65XE both with Ultimate1MB,VBXL/XE & PokeyMax, SIDE3, SDrive Max, 2x 1010 cassette, 2x 1050 one with Happy mod, 3x 2600 Jr, 7800 and Lynx II
Approx 20 STs, including a 520 STM, 520 STFMs, 3x Mega ST, MSTE & 2x 32 Mhz boosted STEs
Plus the rest, totalling around 50 machines including a QL, 3x BBC Model B, Electron, Spectrums, ZX81 etc...

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS
I tried one row, needs a bit more of a push as expected. Still pretty easy.. just aligning all 4 to the socket when inserting the booster is the hardest part.
Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS
What type of pins should I test with?
Basically I made one with the exact measurements you gave and printed on "high quality" and it fits really well ... but if I can test myself before sending to you I might be able to iterate the design somewhat

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS
Looking nice! I am not sure what the pins are, I think they are 1mm pitch.. Maybe Best if I post you a few strips ?troed wrote: Mon Apr 30, 2018 5:25 pm What type of pins should I test with?

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS
I'll try to source some locally
The pitch is 1.27mm?

If so I can get headers from here when driving home from work: https://www.electrokit.com/stiftlist-1-27mm-1x40p.51493
Bought a good caliper today to check what accuracy I got from the printer. 24.35x24.40 (from 24.40 in the CAD model). I'm happy with that ...

I believe so yes.
Is pretty good!troed wrote: Tue May 01, 2018 8:19 pm Bought a good caliper today to check what accuracy I got from the printer. 24.35x24.40 (from 24.40 in the CAD model). I'm happy with that ...

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS
New PCB arrived a couple days ago. If I ever get five seconds piece, might actually get to build this up some point!

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS
I bought a few 1.27mm headers but I must confess that they fit just as "badly" IMHO with or without the dummy CPU. Of course, I don't really know what a "good fit" should be like ... maybe I should just send you a dummy?

Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS
When you insert the pins, the socket tabs get pushed out a fraction.. the square should at least partly stop that from happening..troed wrote: Tue May 08, 2018 1:48 pm I bought a few 1.27mm headers but I must confess that they fit just as "badly" IMHO with or without the dummy CPU. Re: STE V1.5 32MHz BOOSTER - STATUS
New DualTOS prototype boards arrived..
These are similar to previous versions, but I've done away with the socket and made the board a fraction smaller. Boards also include UBE circuit, but not important for current booster work.. now to find time to build and test...
