DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

Re: Bikerbob's H5 C1 build
@Bikerbob meter out all lines from the WD1772 to the floppy. Usually the floppy should be quiet. It is worth removing the GAL and checking it in a standard format but as far as I am aware, this should make no difference as its really only to do with 8 - 16mhz switching to the WD1772.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Re: Bikerbob's H5 C1 build
So the idea being that maybe my 1772 cannot do the 16mhz? Do I just remove the gal and change a jumper and the floppy should work as normal?PhilC wrote: 21 Sep 2021 14:10 @Bikerbob meter out all lines from the WD1772 to the floppy. This is fine, I guess more concerning is the desktop info crash.

Yes just remove the chip and I think its jumper j22 which is next to the DMA will need setting to 2-3 IIRC

Re: Bikerbob's H5 C1 build
OK, so I am using Atari floppy drives. SMD-380 and SMD-340
SO jumper 18 and 19 - Do I need to set them? IF I FORCE 1.44 mode on the 1.44 drive it will read and write everything?
Do I do the HD select on the SMD-340? or is this just if I am using the Sony compatible 920? I am not finding a lot of info on this.
I know the Desktop info is related to this issue.. because I booted 2.06 with no floppy in drive.. and was able to get to desktop info.. if I put a floppy in and accessed it.. then next time I go to desktop info mouse stops working.

Used Exxos diag cart.. before menu comes up - I7 bus error detected. Then continues..
Another thing.. in the Cart Menu (A)udio - if I do it right away after a cold boot.. I get the A sound --- fading away B is barley audible and C no.. and from that point on.. going into (A)udio gets me nothing.. But it does come up Green.. aka passed.

The jumpers force 720k or 1.44 mode, if you have the GAL fitted with 1.44 mode forced, with a 1.44 drive, then it will work with 1.44 floppies only.Bikerbob wrote: 21 Sep 2021 20:39 SO jumper 18 and 19 - Do I need to set them? I only use the MPF920. You add the HD select wire as shown on my website to get automatic 720k / 1.44 switching.Bikerbob wrote: 21 Sep 2021 20:39 Do I do the HD select on the SMD-340? or is this just if I am using the Sony compatible 920? I am not finding a lot of info on this.
Is this with my TOS206 decorder board ? If so then its nothing to worry about.Bikerbob wrote: 21 Sep 2021 20:39 Used Exxos diag cart.. before menu comes up - I7 bus error detected. Then continues..

Ok, so if I want to use an smd-340 and read both 720k and 1.44m floppies how do I set it up?exxos wrote: 22 Sep 2021 00:18 The jumpers force 720k or 1.44 mode, if you have the GAL fitted with 1.44 mode forced, with a 1.44 drive, then it will work with 1.44 floppies only.

Re: Bikerbob's H5 C1 build
I've no idea sorry, I've only really used the MPF920 drives for like 20 years. Back in the day I tested many common drives out, but none were ever as good as the MPF drives. So never looked back.Bikerbob wrote: 22 Sep 2021 04:33 Ok, so if I want to use an smd-340 and read both 720k and 1.44m floppies how do I set it up?

Re: Bikerbob's H5 C1 build
The SMD-340 is the original 1.44mb drive Atari used. I have about 6 of them that are good. I guess if I have to I can find a 920. Were there not some 920s that were good and some that were not?exxos wrote: 22 Sep 2021 05:06I've no idea sorry, I've only really used the MPF920 drives for like 20 years. Re: Bikerbob's H5 C1 build
OK, AUDIO fixed. (my 100K was a bit large, but made it work)
Floppy issues fixed with a 920 drive and a HD select to pin 2 of HD cable.. all good. Now no jumper on 18 or 19. Set on 16mhz for WD1772 and working. No issues now with Desktop info (because the drive is not ticking over constantly polling?)
And running dungeon master.
I am running my COSMOSex off the DMA - working great.
DID not have Gembench 6 on that SD card.. so just gembench 3.
