Ok, so plugged the Log3 into the cartridge port, copied the Logic files onto the CF card, plugged it into the Falcon and...success!
Even loaded & played one of the demo files through my Roland 8820.
When I have a bit more time I'll try running it in fast ram etc. but a good start!
Might try Cubase 3 or Audio next...but IIRC the MIDEX+ needs a mid to work with the Falcon.

Life, the universe & everything...Atari (well, mostly)
Re: Life, the universe & everything...Atari (well, mostly)
No more time for the Falcon over the last few days, finding and checking those 3 working STEs ate up my retro time.
Maybe I can get the Falcon back on the bench and give it some more attention this weekend.
One other thing to note, the DFB1X seems to be quite happy with the original clock mod so far (for me, at least - YMMV), I do have an exxos V2 clock mid to fit at some point.

Well, aside from a few hours building & struggling to get another H5C1 working, I've had little retro time of late
But as part of this H5C1 saga I'm also trying to clear off a couple of small tasks from my retro to-do list...but partly related as I need to free up a PLCC 68k for the second H5C1 and that means trying the 32MHz booster (even if only @ 8MHz in an STE)...
So, that means an almost ideal opportunity to test the BBAN HDD Emulator with the STE with the original 68k & then with the Booster fitted.
Anyway, I've made a new topic about the BBAN side of things (start slow) and hope to update a few of them over the next few days...

Re: Life, the universe & everything...Atari (well, mostly)

Very little time for any retro activities recently

Anyway, I managed to get hold of a USB Floppy drive for the PC that actually works with 720k and 1440k floppy discs (and even with my Windows 10 PC)...I've not tried it win Win 11 yet...
Don't expect it to work with weird formats (I've got a GreaseWeazle for those, time permitting) but for much of the simple copying files etc. then I'm hoping that will be much easier than moving the Gotek drives between systems...
Re: Life, the universe & everything...Atari (well, mostly)
Well, I'm being 'encouraged' by my better half to sort through the collection of computers and relocate some of them.
I think she means get rid, but I'm interpreting it to be moving them out of the house & into the garage or storage until the requirements are more precisely specified...
I'll probably start a separate thread for one or two of the trickier ones to make a decision on (given my ongoing lack of time for the retro hobbies and the renewed pressure).

Re: Life, the universe & everything...Atari (well, mostly)
Still extremely limited time for any retro-activities of late...and little sign of that changing in the near future
On a rare opportunity, I tried to test an FMC II cart that I've had lying around for a while (dead battery, not sure what the history of this particular purchase might have been beyond that).
I've changed the battery & tried it in an ST but no joy...does anybody have any hints on what I can check on this?
I've been careful to not plug it in the wrong way round so far, but it's either stopping the ST from booting or not being found by the FMC II program on floppy.
I'll see if I can capture the actual boot screen info if I can get it booting again, maybe later this evening...

Re: Life, the universe & everything...Atari (well, mostly)
I've not had time to progress with that FMC II issue - easiest to just remove it and worry about it later!
In a short period of free time (when I expected to be trying to build up the H5C5B board - but that hasn't arrived yet) and in moment of madness (note that I'm realistic to exclude putting 'rare' in that sentence
) I dug out an STE and tried the Williams Defender port on it - it's great but I suck at it...
Anyway, while digging that one out I actually realised that I have a total of 4x STE's where I only thought I had 3...
So, when I next get any spare money for my retro hobbies I will have to think what I should upgrade on the 'bonus' STE...
I was looking to try Defender on my Falcon but got to the STE's before I found that, so I still have that please ahead.
I wanted the STE or the Falcon to try it with the Jagpad...but maybe I should use the keyboard instead (as that was how I played the BBC version about 40 years ago...and I didn't suck quite so badly back then).

Re: Life, the universe & everything...Atari (well, mostly)
Just found the 4x 1MB SIMMS I bought ages ago from the store so will see if I can easily upgrade one of those STEs from 4x256k to 4x1M...might even try that tonight if I can free up the time!JezC wrote: Thu Apr 10, 2025 3:57 pm Anyway, while digging that one out I actually realised that I have a total of 4x STE's where I only thought I had 3...![]()

I do remember that some of the old SIMM sockets can be quite brittle though!

Brittle may not be the problem, it could be the SIMMs are too thick for the slots.JezC wrote: Thu Apr 10, 2025 5:11 pmJust found the 4x 1MB SIMMS I bought ages ago from the store so will see if I can easily upgrade one of those STEs from 4x256k to 4x1M...might even try that tonight if I can free up the time!JezC wrote: Thu Apr 10, 2025 3:57 pm Anyway, while digging that one out I actually realised that I have a total of 4x STE's where I only thought I had 3...![]()

Another possibility @rubber_jonnie!
Didn't get chance last night as the dog started wailing so she had me watching another Dr Who episode with her while she settled herself for the night (in the lounge)...
Fortunately my good lady wife knew about it so I get some brownie points for comforting the dog rather than losing them for my retro activities!
