I saw those on eBay, will probably have a look at that once I have it running nicely.

SD solution will also do Master System ROMs so adaptor is not needed unless you have a load of carts.

Ah you don't need eBay for the 50/60, just a few switches needed unless you want it to change a bit more fancy.

With regards to carts, I tend to just use SD solutions where I can as I don't have the storage for lots of carts, so I guess once I get the SD solution I'll be golden. I just wanted the Sonic cart as it came with the MD I had back in the day :)

Well, the controllers and Sonic cartridge arrived, and boom!!

All working lovely :)

All I needed to do was clean up the cartridge edge connector and it powered on perfectly :)

Currently it's just a bare board on my workbench as I'm giving the case a good clean, but I fully expect it to look and run great once it's finished.

I'm only running it on RF out at the moment, so I need to sort out a proper cable to verify if the AV out port is not right as described, but so far so good.
