Just knocked up a floppy cable and hooked up a hard disk.

Both working fine, just need to go to bed now!

I was going to say, the hard drive will not function correctly without the patch board, or jumpering over the chip like we did as a test a while back..

@exxos I'll see how it behaves and I'll get back to you.

@exxos Ok, I just read back through the DMA Issue thread and I'm not currently using ACSI for connecting my hard drive.

Because I have the BETA IDE interface in use, basically so I can override the onboard ROM access problem, that's what I'm using for my HDD.

I ran a few tests on it over lunchtime, nothing major, things like file copies from FDD to HDD, other general file access stuff, and it works just fine.

I just left it running the crappy IDE hard drive tester, so will see what that throws up, and when I have time I'll see what XFFRATE says.

I'll probably test with my CosmosEx (ACSI) this weekend, but it does sound like I'll need the PCB for that to work properly.

@rubber_jonnie The patch board is for the DMA hard drive port, DB19 socket etc... IDE uses a different bus (*hides*) so it is unaffected by that part of the circuit.

@exxos yep, that figures.

I presume it's a case of ordering your own patch PCB, or do you and Icky have some we can buy?

@Icky Got a few made which he's going to send to me at some point soon... I'll probably just put them in the post for people in the UK who want them, is not worth bothering adding them to my store just for the sake of a couple of boards..

Icky paid for the boards to be done, so me selling them is slightly unfair to Icky. But also unfair on others if I force them to buy boards to fix something I ballsed up in the first place.

For people overseas, they can get them from OSH cheap with free postage anyway.. There was also no point people in the UK ordering from OSH as it will take over a month just to get the boards..
