Trudie - The Next IDE Board

Ended up with 4 boards which have odd issues. 3 don't boot up at all. The other boots from IDE just fine, but bombs when trying to load any programs. I've resoldered the hell out of it and no change. :shrug: I'm not spending anymore time on those boards now. Could well be bad vias on the PCB or something.

Hopefully can get them in the store towards the end of this week.

I've been looking at getting some 5 volt ones made. But I'd have to use JLC, which I don't want to. They don't stock the PLD or buffers. The 5v stuff is more expensive which is why I didn't make them. Even at JLC, the cost of the parts and tarrifs will likely end up costing around £30 more.

It be cheaper to order parts myself and get my uk guy to assemble them. But it's hardly worth the effort as I'd have to order all the parts myself and uk assembly is more expensive anyway. Its not really cost effective to order like 10 boards. Overall, I can see them being more like £100 per board. If a couple don't work it makes things worse. So it's just not worth all the time and costs IMO.

EDIT. I've just realised it wasn't JLC who made TRUDIE it was PCBWAY!!

I was trying other suppliers and from other projects their work looked fine.. But obviously not with TRUDIE. I mostly stopped using PCBWAY as to many things were going wrong and I had to keep repeating myself over and over and over.. Always the same when dealing with china suppliers. It drove me nuts in the end and I blacklisted them.. Again why I moved to a UK fab.
