Agreed we are looking for a printer for do the STFM case. Exxos and I have been discussing and researching various avenues for options to print once we have the files sorted.

Its actually amazing the size of printers that you can get your hands on or build these days

You could print cases on 500x500? I'm not sure on the dimensions of the ST but I remember smaller.
Anyhow the Creality CR10 range are well regarded as very good for the money and they have a 500mm model.

I know quite a bit about 3D Printers, having designed and built my own based on the open source mendel/prusa platform and owning a couple of others, so if you need any advice, I'm happy to offer it.

I did look at the cr10. The cases are 450mm length. Though I had a long fight with a prusia which put me off that style of printer :roll: I brought a flash forge dreamer and its fantastic, though like 5 times the price of the prusia. I guess I could take a chance on the cr10 as its way cheaper.. But I don't want end up forever doing mods to things out of the box again.

My Ender 3 is the same technology as the CR10 and with a few easy tweaks it's a great printer, so it might be worth a look.

Of course once you have z 3d printer, if you have the skills, it's only a case of obtaining the aluminium sections and then 3d printing the interconnections and hello big printer.

Oh no, the CR-10 is pretty much shipped in two pieces, it's nothing like those prusa kits.
I think the only upgrade people do to them is to add auto bed levelling and that really isnt that hard to do. The days of having to mod a printer to get a decent print out of it are long gone.

The only real issue for printing cases would be the finish. I have pretty much nailed down the quality of mine and that still has a noticeable 'print' look to it.

They are pretty much as good as you'll see with a .4 nozzle at .2 layer height. You could drop to a .3 nozzle but you would always see the printing process, especially on the top layer. The only real way around this is to post process the case, which would mean adding a surface that would be susceptible to chipping/scratching. I wouldnt personally bother too much about the look of printed plastic, but I know it does put people off.

Oh yeah the finer detail prints take an age. I just don't even drop below .2 now that I have the quality as it is.
You are over extruding a bit on your prints I see, have you calibrated the e-steps? Can you even calibrate them on a flashforge?
There is probably a guide somewhere online. You are almost there but with a little tweaking your prints would look superb.

The original setting was 105% which caused a mess. so I put it to 100% I think. Though some prints I had it to 95% to compensate. I do need to do more test prints but the quality of it is really good anyway.

Started on a dirty TOS206 STFM board (we can all blame rememberedhisname for this distraction)

I can't find a SMT 22V20 lib right now, but must be one somewhere...

This board will just solder on top of the 68000... First test version will just use my STFM DUAL TOS boards to hold the ROM. keeps the board small and easy to solder then.. Making the board to large will make it hard to solder ontop of the CPU.. or adding ROM will make it to high to fit under the shielding... I may do a variation with ROM on board , depending how well it all fits together...

Funnily enough, I was just starting an old fashion version with a 74138, 08 and 244 that I found the details for. This was going to be connected to the Megabus slot.

But obviously using the Gals will make it much more compact.
