Yep, 4 layer boards they are as well. EOL sell-offs ;)Badwolf wrote: 10 Nov 2021 22:28 I saw from your stock thread that you've started doing the naked STE dual ROM boards. At £6, that's an absolute steal and I shall be investing for my next order. Many thanks.

DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
Running low on Falcon VGA adapters again. I remember I started this new design, seems way back in 2019
So started building one up...
Quick power up test, feking hell that LED is bright  8-)
Even though I had to part numbers listed for the on-board MOSFET, one of them unfortunately got fitted to the board was a P-channel instead of a N-channel MOSFET
So bodge part-time..
Plugged in and Falcon turned off..
Plugged in and powered up
WTF is going on I hear you cry! This one is automatic power down when the Falcon is turned off. I did not like the idea of the 40Mhz been pushed into the Videl when it is powered down. So now when the Falcon is turned off, the board powers off, and when the Falcon is turned on, the board powers up.
I may actually put a second LED on there to indicate power is actually connected to the board via the USB port. I have got to get another prototype boards made because of some slight hole size issues

Changes done :) Fix the switch holes as they were slightly the wrong size. Remove the power switch as it is just unnecessary now. Added a second LED for "USB power connected". If I did not add this I think it would confuse people who have power connected and the LED is not otherwise on   Tweaked the USB connector as it seems to be needed to overhang the edge of the PCB, also tweaked the hole sizes a little bit for it.
Next to get the prototypes made again..

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
So NXP has this for the pinout of one of their mosfets..
Then Panjit (who I never heard of) have this..
So why can't NXP just list it as simple and clearly as Panjit! I've seen this type of BS in datasheets before a lot, its like NXP, seem to make life as much work as possible!

- Reuse of the same cliparts without questions throughout all datasheets (same for mosfet and bjt), the day the pin assigment ever change, only the tabular data is edited.
- They have been written like that forever, thus rewrite all datasheet is PITA
- No big customer ever went away from manufacturer product explicitely because datasheet require more mental work (because, parametric search and stick with brand) nor published this stance to shame said manufacturer.

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
Bloody annoying how much current these oscillators draw.
With a MOSFET only powering up the osc when the Falcon's on, I was thinking "perhaps a CR2032 would be a potential power source now". I really dislike having to plug in the monitor adapter. But a quick data sheet search suggests it'd only run about 6 hours!
Grr.

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
While trying to tidy up a little bit I found a box of these boards which I had totally forgotten about. So currently soldering the connectors on and testing them out. These will be heading to my store at a rock bottom price "soon" . I do not know if I will build a second batch of these or not as the DRAM thing ever increasingly difficult to find and expensive.

Tested - Cleaned - Retested :)
Hope to get some in store soon. Problem is currently I cannot for the life of me work out where I purchased the DRAM chips from, so I do not know currently how much I paid for them. So I cannot work at the sale price yet
