Well that layout doesn't fit well. I think I need to turn the board round 180 degrees so the buttons are at the top (thinnest part of case) and the jacks are at the bottom (tallest part of case). Small bodge on the LCD will be needed to rotate it 180 degrees too.

Not well fitting render:

A bit of fettling and its almost in a shape to print a first try. I may have to scale up the whole cassette body by a fractional amount to make it fit.

Very neat. I was thinking you might need to scale it up a smidge.

Yeah - I don't know why I get myself into these situations where I end up creating more projects. Well I sort of do for this one. It was an attempt to stop me procrastinating on getting the Giant Panda printer up and running since the move. I thought if I could use this as an excuse it would then move me towards finishing off the STFM case prototypes.

Now, if there was a version with a head which could produce the magnetic would produce and only play as the capastan rotated, fitting as a real cassette, that would be excellent. The full virtual cassette experience.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

You made me remember that when I was younger, there were cassette devices that had a 3.5mm plug hanging off them. You popped them in your cassette and it allowed you to play portable devices like CDs through the cassette system on your car.

Do wonder if that would work in this scenario.

I remember those @rubber_jonnie, like the pic below, I had thought about those but would still need a tape deck, would work well in the integrated old computers like the Spectrum +2 and CPC464. My project was to just have a retro compact cassette looking device that is the TZXDuino inside so the tape basically plugs into the retro computer. In hind sight I could have printed an old retro cassette deck or gutted a non-working one.

That's exactly what I was thinking of :)

That sort of thing would be nice, but with the storage integrated so that you selected the "tape" using buttons and a screen and then put it in the cassette player.
