Will settle on driver ASAP, trouble is I can't spring for HDDRIVER right now, €45 is a bit too much right now :(
Jon, that looks like a nice spot for one of them Golden Glitter Cards....
I was just looking at that glitter location on RJ's board he's got the reverse socket to mine i.e. 180 degree rotation. The board was designed to fit in that orientation too but I think the shielding may be more of a problem.

Nice work on the Xmas tree removal RJ. I will have to execute on that idea :D

Gonna have to drop that board in favour of a CO70789 with 1mb though, not enough RAM, but difficult to find surface mount ram to upgrade it.

This board also has an MMU that is 180 degrees out.

As for the Xmas tree, you're welcome :)

I think I may have some of those ram chips still in their anti-static bag which in fact was a ram upgrade I never got round to doing on my original ST back in the 80's

I'm a bit like exxos. I can't sleep before midnight and then I am up at the crack of dawn to see what randomness the next day throws at me. :D

Finally had 5 mins to test the 3 cheap and cheerful 4gb CF cards that arrived this week. They are all from different vendors on Aliexpress and work fine in my USB adaptor on the PC.

This Is where it gets odd again. Putting any of the 3 new CF cards into the IDE adaptor and my Mega refuses to boot, again doesn't even get as far as setting 50hz on the monitor. And this is without the power applied to the CF adaptor just with the nee cards inserted.

So back to another old 2GB card I have and its recognised right away and happy as Larry.

I know I could have 3 duff cards but it would seem unusual when they work great on the PC?

PhilC have you got the corrected patch that PaulJ spotted. Didn’t know if you had copied my mistake or corrected accordingly.
