Oh I shall definitely be tweaking the firmware when I get another PS3. I have a mod chip and homebrew memory card already for the PS2, just got to set it up.

Its rather heavy, so would prefer to take to CL to give you, but I *DO* understand that itch people get when they are on the case with something and want it ASAP, so no worries if that was the case and you wanted it posted.

My old one had the same flap but was a release day version that I picked up from Game in Coventry.

There seems to be alot of confusion, what with partly compatible ones and versions that didnt make it into the UK which had the PS2 IC.

As far as I can tell, this model was the only one officially in the UK with the 100% compatible PS2 IC on it.
