DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

Very quick update tonight. I’ve finished building the Open128 board, all except the ferrite beads which it will boot without (except FB9 & 10, they look to be needed so are in.)

I did a quick power test and we get a black screen but it’s all synced etc. so not quite booting yet. Hardly surprising though as I’ve not cleaned off all the flux that’s on about every pin underneath still.

So tomorrow I’ll clean up the underside and give that a visual check and hope to have it all working before Monday with any luck.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

And todays good advice is when selecting resistor networks if Don't get your isolated and bussed resistor knickers in a twist.

Whoops. Removed the pair of bussed resistors I'd ordered and fitted some isolated ones and lo and behold the C128 now works.

Only took me two whole days to realise what I'd done.

Well I do like to mess around with the old C128s now I’ve got another motherboard fixed up, so today I decided I would try out a SidKick Sid replacement with dual SID emulation as well as FM sound.

It’s certainly not the cheapest SID replacement out there as it uses a Teensy 4.1 to provide all the horsepower but it does seem to do a pretty good SID emulation with the stuff I’ve tried it on so far.

And here it is, all tidied up and heat sinks on the expensive chips.

I’m toying with putting this in its own Perspex desktop style case, sort of like a C128D but with an SD2IEC instead of the 1571 disk drive.

Another quick update.

The Open128 board is now fitted inside the C128D and the only real problem I've found is the alignment of the modulator ports. In my case I have replaced the modulator with an S-Video and Stereo Jack board but I'll have to tweak the case holes slightly so I can actually use those ports.

Other than that, I fitted an Arm2SID to the board which took a bit of tweaking because of the C128 having ROM in the second SID address range. Now that's sorted I'm pleased with the result and may show it off again at the next Cyber Legends.
