PhilCs blog / the latest things hes broken(fixed)
Re: PhilCs blog / the latest things hes broken(fixed)
Just been having another look at my Micro ATX board tonight. So it seems that a dodgy MMU lead me a stray for a while. It would fail the memory test and halt, turns out I just needed to replace the MMU. Now the floppy works too, so I've got to track down what's up with my video out and then it looks like we are good to go with this board.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

So it looks like changing C41 and C59 caps to 1uf has helped greatly with the ghosting. Its almost gone but it's good enough now I can live with it.

I managed to get an mATX case for £27 the other day, yes it’s got a window and flashy light fans, not that I’ll use them.
So the mATX ST is now installed in its own case and up and running. This revision of the board won’t work with the ST536 because of its built in tos deciding routine. Now I could remove the roms from the motherboard and ditch the IDE and decoder Gal but I have an old TF536 that’s not in use so I’ve found it a new home.
I’ve just got the CF card set up with HD driver 11 and next will be getting the STGA card up and running for some ST VGA.
I’ve got to try and find somewhere to either put this floppy drive or a gotek. I can probably make an adaptor for one of the ISA slots to fit a gotek in.
Here’s how it looks so far

Last night in between playing Taxi for the wife and her coworkers, taking them to their Christmas do, I did a bit more work on the ATX ST.
I managed to get the ET4000 playing nicely but even though I’d got the same card as x_angel was using I had to use the 24bit drivers before it would do anything. Now I have a nice and clear 640x480 desktop.
It actually runs quite nicely with the TF536, just got to get the maprom stuff installed and then I’ve got a very useable ST for programming etc.

That's great news that you got it working, as I'm likely going to stick a VOFA ET4000 into the Mega once I get my 'present' from you.
Have you managed to get the lower colour modes working yet?

I'm just a sucker for. margin is all @Icky but also a bit C64 obsessed
I do actually want a C128 but they are just silly money.

I'm going to refrain from having a go...but only due to having 30+ Atari STs.
People in glass houses etc. etc.
I'd offer to re-home one for you...but that would probably be a "bad idea" from my wife's perspective.
Apparently I already have way too many computers.
