There's no place more appropriate for necromancing than a retro computing forum, isn't it? :DSideburn wrote: 09 May 2025 00:50 Wow a 5 year old thread and now I need help 😆
I have recently acquired an sc1224 monitor and the flyback appears to be shorter. Also see a crack on it.
It’s the exact same KF4825G white that snubber contraption in line with the anode cable.
I cannot find a replacement KF4825G anywhere. I found one that looks close to a match physically that is model 6174Z8005A but no idea if it is within the same specs.
Did the flyback work without the snubber? Anyone know of a compatible replacement or where I can find an original?
OT: I ended up not replacing my flyback, mostly because it still worked (and still does) and I couldn't find a replacement part and I didn't want to resort to solutions I don't have enough knowledge for (like building a snubber on top of a different flyback model).
I've come to realize that retro flybacks that are sold as new may actually be scavenged parts. Even if I would have found a replacement part, it might look newer but actually be more worn than the flyback I already have. So I decided only to replace flybacks after they've gone bad. I know this includes accepting the risk of other parts dying along with the flyback, once it goes.
