Strange part connected to flyback of Atari SC1224

Oh sorry if you have a signal generator you can just feed a horizontal signal in and check along the test points to just before the fly back. Will reveal weak parts. And yes some of those flyback could stay charged for years and still burn a probe tip. Samsung and Philips loved them. Must of the time you were just waiting for the tube to heat things. The part your showing looks like it charges the tube before the horizontal signal starts. The power supply is the spot with the capacitors and the regulators. That take the beating the do not cool well.

I just remembered some crt history. The extra flyback were run off the crowbar transformer to but a charge on the tube to keep the x rays down until there was a horizontal signal. And it made them come on fast

Sadly it never arrived and the seller refunded the order in the end. They said the package was rejected at customs or something and sent back to China. I wonder what was exactly going on there :?

Anyway, I'll order another somewhere else.

Yeah. Perhaps they consider the power adapter unsafe or something. I'm sure as hell not going to use the adapter anyway and they'd probably be right about that.

...or "it got rejected by customs" or "customs are very strict these days" are just the standard excuses that Chinese suppliers use for everything that doesn't arrive for whatever reason.

Wow a 5 year old thread and now I need help 😆

I have recently acquired an sc1224 monitor and the flyback appears to be shorter. Also see a crack on it.

It’s the exact same KF4825G white that snubber contraption in line with the anode cable.

I cannot find a replacement KF4825G anywhere. I found one that looks close to a match physically that is model 6174Z8005A but no idea if it is within the same specs.

Did the flyback work without the snubber? Anyone know of a compatible replacement or where I can find an original?
