Just received my Atari wrap cables and have been testing the fleet here. I have verified that on a good ST everything passes. Now for the new board. The good news is all the main functionalities pass: ram, timing, rom, floppy, and DMA. They bad news is MIDI is dead, and the parallel port does not work. So since I've never used MIDI.. I'm going to look into the parallel port failure. Its kinda a shame neglecting the MIDI since it would give me an opertunity to sling ACIA around and not get corrected. :yay: :yay:
I can't check the serial port because I'm using it, but its working well enough to communicate so I'm happy with that for today. I got a notice they shipped my video un-f*ck boards Friday so I should have them soon. Here is a picture of the control board and cables testing another ST to make sure everything passes.

Re: PaulJ Progress
So midi and parallel ports to look into next then... Trend so far is not wired up correctly... So if you can check the port pi out vs a real st then it will help see if that's the problem.

In respect to the MIDI I took a look at the sockets and pins etc on the board and all seemed correct.
Thought I would just bite the bullet and see if it worked with a MIDI controller.
So far have got the ST to play out of MIDI into GarageBand not tried the other MIDI functions ie IN and Through. So may be those are tripping your tests

Re: PaulJ Progress
If the ST is transmitting in Ickys case, then could be a problem with the opto on the other connector.. If someone can check the input and output of it...
There are like 20 different versions of the same opto, the original did not state all specs, so I couldn't match a proper alternative.. It could be connector wired wrong, or bad solder joint as well, but just making aware about the opto might not actually work.. I guess it could be bridged over for a test.. assume it would work that way..

Re: PaulJ Progress
Haven't looked at MIDI, I did us the iso from the old board. The parallel interface does look like it is working there may be a issue with some bits. Will try another 2149 and see if it corrects the issue.

Re: PaulJ Progress
You mean you used the old opto ? If so it won't work, different pinout IIRC.

Re: PaulJ Progress
I guess that explains the MIDI. I'll need to order the right one. Guess that's what happens when one assumes. :hide: :hide:

Yes, the parallel is passing intermittently.. Guess I'll wait for the un-f*ck video board since it should be hear Monday or Tuesday.

Gotta keep you guys on your toes ;)PaulJ wrote: 14 Oct 2018 22:04 I guess that explains the MIDI. I'll need to order the right one. Guess that's what happens when one assumes. :hide: :hide:
but yeah, the general consensus is to re-use stuff from a STFM... BUT, I the opto I had changed for a more modern generic part... which uses a different pinout than the original one.. if you check the parts list I do list part numbers there....https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... =19&t=1040
