What voltage is your PSU outputting ? and what is it, like SR98 ?sandord wrote: Thu Oct 04, 2018 5:38 pm I'm crying right now. Metrocross is showing bad pixels again. I guess that the wire made the ST only stable at half speed...

DO NOT USE DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time it is unfortunately not possible to white list users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

1040 STF showing occasional rogue pixels

It's an SR98, Exxos-kit-capped a few weeks ago.exxos wrote: Thu Oct 04, 2018 5:42 pm What voltage is your PSU outputting ? and what is it, like SR98 ?
During the recap, I put it under load using two power resistors (3R3 and 22R) and tuned it to 5.01V. Next, I put some glue on the pot to prevent it creeping up or down.
I just measured it while it was running in the ST and found it was running at 5.23V! Whoops. Perhaps the pot had crept after all?
I just tuned it to 5.05V under dummy load. Then I put the psu in the ST and it's running Metrocross now. The multi meter is still connected so I can monitor the voltage.
Re: 1040 STF showing occasional rogue pixels
Have you tried upping the voltage to 5.20V ? And just see if the machine runs at that ?
Re: 1040 STF showing occasional rogue pixels
It has been running at 5.23V for the past few weeks already. I'm now trying what happens at 5.05V.exxos wrote: Thu Oct 04, 2018 6:44 pm Have you tried upping the voltage to 5.20V ? And just see if the machine runs at that ?
Re: 1040 STF showing occasional rogue pixels
ah right, it should be set to 5V ideally, but most ST's seem to end up running a faction lower voltage, like 4.8V - 4.9V.sandord wrote: Thu Oct 04, 2018 6:47 pm It has been running at 5.23V for the past few weeks already. I'm now trying what happens at 5.05V.
Re: 1040 STF showing occasional rogue pixels
Ah, so better a tad below 5V than over.
The ST's been running YAART beta for 9.5 hours, no errors. Punish Your Machine Reset demo for one hour: no crash. Metro Cross: no bad pixels. This is looking good! Will run some more tests tonight.
Re: 1040 STF showing occasional rogue pixels
cool! I think you just got noise on the RAM lines. Ringing would get worse higher the voltage and cause more errors.sandord wrote: Fri Oct 05, 2018 10:07 am Ah, so better a tad below 5V than over.

Re: 1040 STF showing occasional rogue pixels
After:
- 9.5 hours of YAART
- a few hours of Full Screen Demo from the Cuddly Demos
- an hour running the Reset Demo from the Punish Your Machine demo
- and a few games of Metrocross and
I can finally say: IT'S FIXED!
