Before I got my first Ampex iron in the mid/late 80s the only iron I had access to was my Dad’s which was only slightly smaller than the one shown in the first demonstration. You can see why I didn’t do any electronics then can’t you?

I may have had 'incidents' that resulted in pain, injury and scorching, but I never did that. At least not deliberately...

I don't deny there have been scorchings, but I'm not the only one. These are dangerous tools, but I deny (Mostly) anything close to that picture

I burnt the back of my thumb the other day while desoldering chips . It's almost healed up now though. So not really picture worthy any more
