Server locked up

Post by exxos »

Around 3am The server just seem to totally lock up. Hence none of the exxoshost /exxosforum domains loading.

I just rebooted the server and applied a million updates which were pending. Could possibly be a bug in something which has already been dealt with

Later tonight I will do a full backup of the disc. So the server will be down for about 1-2 hours. There is a LTS update but I don't feel brave enough to do that without doing a full disk backup first

I cannot find any reason for the lock-up. So I contacted the hosting company for any insight into it.

EDIT:

Oh the LTS is FROM Ubuntu20 TO Ubuntu22.. oh hell no... :fire: :fire: :fire: :hide:

Exxos makes a very good point here! lol

@PhilC It's ok. We can forgive you, but the first step is for you to admit you did it.

This is beginning to sound a bit like the "Do you still beat your <significant other>?" question which implies wrongdoing even when there is none...

Though having said that, there may be some previous form to consider here...even if that was done under an alias... :D

Everyone is happy to blame @PhilC And he's happy to take the blame. So case closed in my book  :D

The forum will go down later tonight while I make a disk backup. Just in case @PhilC Decides to go on the rampage again..

Sounds like a plan. Let me know what time you're doing the backup and I'll break it half way through :)

At least your server booted after this. My one has GRUB deciding that it can't read XFS filesystems any more and hence can't load Stage 2. *sigh*
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.
Locked
