exxos blog - random goings on
Re: exxos blog - random goings on
It's that time of the year where my chair snaps in half! FFS!!
Re: exxos blog - random goings on
So which bit broke first... ?

Re: exxos blog - random goings on
I don't care which bit broke first, I'm more happy to see a half brick in your tool set
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Managed to find a supposed compatible piston as mine snapped in half.
Still need to get the black bit off the end yet. Might try setting fire to it. Ignite the gas in the piston and resulting explosion frees the stuck bit off..

The chair repair started.
Will just be lazy and dump these images as I am knelt down on the floor which is not comfortable
Basically it was heating up the black part on the end to get it off. The black plastic melted and caught fire. Still burning half an hour later!! grinding off all the black paint off all the metalwork and then finally welding the stuff.
Also did a quick video of the gas piston "exploding". This made me jump
Followed by fire and a spot of vintage welding at the end.. I was probably on fire as well at some point.

The first glance of this post, reading:
...and then seeing a YT video with flames underneath was too much and it had me in fits of laughter.
A normal/sane person would really wonder how a chair repair would in any way involve the chair exploding/catching fire.
You've made my day right here!

Going to dismantle one and see what custom crap is on the PCB so I can't clone it..
p.s. It's not giving me the option to rotate it. (Done it for you, PhilC)
