Substituting Caps

Ok, generally I like to replace like for like unless there has been a fault found with a circuit, but it's been at least 20 years since I did any electronics, so my memory is a little hazy.

Was doing some cleanup in the garage and found an original XBOX which has that stupid capacitor for a clock circuit setup.
Oddly enough, I'm pretty sure it's electrolytic given the amount of goo on the board.

So from what I've read, it should be a 1F 2.5V cap, but at my local electronics store (Jaycar) they only had 1F in a 65V variant.
I'm probably going to order some stuff from element14 and throw in the correct cap to the basket, but just wondering if anyone could suggest if the 65V would suffice, and if not, why.

2.5V 1F would be a large super cap...

63V 1F is unlikely, probably be the size of a bin.

Do you mean "uF" ? Even so, 2.5V seems very low.. I'm sure sure even if that voltage in 1uF was ever made even. But 1uF caps are generally 5V-63V.

Apparently it is a 1F 2.5V variant, which also threw the guy at Jaycar.
Normally I would just read off the details from the unit which needs incontinence pads, but there is only '2352-3' marking on the side, not in line with either of the legs. As such, I'm at the mercy of the internet, which suggests the above.
Sizewise, the original crapped out cap is your standard black colored cap, about 12-13mm high and 7-8mm in diameter, so not so big.

You'll see it is listed there on the 1.4 revision board as well. A suggested replacement is this:

But in the end it doesn't really matter as the thing only lasts for about 24hrs, so it was more a curiosity. Think I'll leave well enough alone on this one.

Was more curious about why/why not, but definitely will order from Mouser, they've got plenty of stock.

They are basically used as a battery, a 65V variant would be next to useless due to the mah it would hold at 2.5V would be tiny.

That's what I had thought, but like I said, I'm old and my memory is great only for some things.
Again, even the original spec seems to only last about 24h, so it's not a great hassle to set the clock every once in a while.
