I am use this cheap psu for cd32.
Maybe it is enough?

It can be used universal for all devices.

Ah nice, an 800 series PSU if my memory serves me right, those were nice PSU's, but they are also getting older.
Used them for lots of projects.

Am I rembering correct, as voltage goes down current goes up. So the voltage regulator should be happy if supplied with 5v @3A. I.e. a PSU rated with 4A on the 5v line.

If you have a 4A 5V PSU and a 3A 5V regulator you will get 3A 5V out of it, and if you ask more than that the regulator will (as correctly stated before) go into thermal shutdown.

A 19V laptop PSU an an external XL4016 step down converter would give you 5V 10A, the only problem with those kind of units is that the voltage may vary after time.
