Hi All,
So last year the theme was based on computer music/midi and there were some good examples of retro computing and keyboards on display.
What sort of theme should we have this year? Some examples are 8 bit computing, Commodore computers. Atari Computers, Transputers, portable computers etc....

DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

BoobyOS would make a great name for a new (e.g. 8-bit) OS, as a sort of parody of the Linux penguin.
As for themes...maybe something that came out in 1986 would be a good start.
Cant think of any computers off hand, but Im sure a few came out that year.

Re: What should this year's theme be at CL5?
Ah, thats a fine list of games there. :)
If I could hazard a guess (as a bit of off the top of my head fun trivia), I would say the chart was lifted from something like C&VG magazine, as the no.5 'Thrust' is listed as being by Superior Software which IIRC handled just Acorn/BBC SW.
Ive just realized, the C64C was released in '86, but thats not really a 'theme', and calling it a 'new computer' is a bit of a stretch.
So perhaps the theme could be more literally based on this chart?
i.e. Bring in a computer that can be seen running one of those 10 games.
What do you guys think? :D

Well, I remember buying and playing Yie Ar Kung Fu on my Beeb around then...and playing Thrust on it as well (not sure I still have an original copy of the latter though  )
Maybe I should see if I can get that refurbished for the show...I have the PSU recap kit already ;)
Edit : in fact, when was the Master released...I think it was around that time so maybe I should get that up and running...

OR...
Perhaps a more practical theme, seeing as half of the above chart qualifies...
Arcade conversions?

How about naked computers?
I have a good selection, my SoC MK14, the Cosmac Elf II, the OSI600D (This came last year but died on me) and my Atom replica.
I have a couple of others that would fit the bill too, like my naked Atari 800 which uses my clock generator boards for master clock and colourburst.
I'm sure I could run some software from 86 on the Atari, such as:
Dark Chambers
Desert Falcon
Crossbow
Ballblazer
Archon
Of course there's an awful lot out there for the Atari 8 Bits.
