I replaced the Fat Anus socket. Removing the old socket was a lot of work. I decided to cut it away with the side cutters thinking I could heat the pins and pull them out easily. The plastic around the sides was brittle and broke off easily. The plastic base of the socket was not at all brittle and seemed to be stuck to the board with no space in between. I heated it up a bit, not hot enough to melt solder, until the edges curled up. That was hard work to remove.
The pins all broke off immediately when I pulled them, leaving 2 to 3mm left. Super.

I managed to remove them, it was just much harder to grab them with the pliers and heat them up.
The new socket, although it looks shinier and is springier than the old one, made no difference. CAS is s stuck high and pins 32 and 33 of the CPU, that is A4 and A5 respectively, pulse much slower than the other address lines.
