DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!
Please make sure you are logged in for at least 2 hours

Is .Net even remotely possible?

Post by Darklord »

I know, this is a really oddball, far out there question but can software
requiring the .Net framework have a snowball's chance in Hades running
on the ST?

Specifically, 100% Pascal/open source, but requiring:

[.NET SDK 8.0+](https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download)

I know it's bloody well unlikely, but I had to ask. :)

Thanks.

If it's Pascal then perhaps the .NET part is simply the compiler. If that's the case maybe the Pascal code could be extracted and ran on a Pascal compiler on Atari.

Thanks, as it turns out this release is in C something or the other but there
is an earlier Pascal release.

I posted the question over at Atari-Forum as well and got some information
there too.

Methinks it would be a fairly big job - most assuredly too much for my (very)
limited skills.

Reminds me (sadly) of my efforts with the very popular game LORD - "Legend
Of The Red Dragon". I was actually in contact with one of the developers who
offered to port it to the ST if he could get an actual ST to work on. I offered
to ship him a 1 meg 1040STFM and Megafile30 to do it (and be returned after)
but before we could finalize the deal he wound up taking another job and it
fell through.

I feel that lost opportunity to this day... :(

LORD2 source is available in Pascal

I think it would be a big hill to get FreePascal onto the Atari TOS, less so for MinT, but there is an Amiga and a 68k Linux port to get started with.

Not that I have any first-hand experience with it, but there is: https://wiki.freepascal.org/Atari. Recently there was a thread in atari-forum about it.
