Hello, it's great to see the activity around the ST community. I was in high school about 1990 when I decided I wanted an Atari ST (rather than the amigas my friends had). I had grown up with the Sinclair Spectrum 48k+ in the 80s and I sold that, saved up my paper run money and bought a second hand Atari 520STFM. One friend at school was also an Atari fan so I was able to get some games to play, but I only had a 5" black and white tv to play it on. The sound would not work so my dad took an old speaker driver and screwed it into a roll of duct tape as a stand and wired that from the tv modulator output. After a while I think my parents felt sorry for me so they bought me a 14" colour tv for my room, I used that Atari for years and had so much fun and learned a lot but I sold it and moved on to, well every console or computer that was available through the years, I even had a 3do in 1995. I have played with ST Emulators over the years and its good, but its not the same as ST hardware..
I have just acquired a 520STE (was from France apparently, has memory upgrade of some kind and a UK 1.62 TOS upgrade done somewhere along the way, now it lives here in NZ) and am waiting for the Sidecartridge to arrive so I can relive my teenage years, its so cool!

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Welcome!
A very similar journey to me with an STFM after a Spectrum, fighting against Amiga friends and having a crappy 12" B&W TV for starters, then buying a colour 14" TV!
