That makes more sense yes in terms of numbers of chips. But 206 2 chip is for STE, so it could be confusing for people if they are looking for 2 chip 104 and only see I sell 2 chip 206. . 2 chip 206 isn't simple on a ST as well all know. 6 chip TOS any ST/FM but requires sockets fitting generally for boards which have 2 chip.
In general most people go with 6 chip. Because they don't care about 206 or fitting a decoder.
