This is something I've seen sellers do. Vendors selling multiple items of something put the prices up astronomically when they have sold out (rather than selling out). I can only assume it has some economical benefit for them (saves re-listing?) eBay rule change. A buyer protection fee is now added. So if a vendor lists something for a round number say £50k eBay automatically adds on the extra.
The maximum is (£0.75 + (£300*4%) + (£3700*2%)) = £86.75eBay wrote:The Buyer Protection fee is calculated as:

All eBay listings made after this change have strange non-round values now. Listings made before the rule change are still round numbers.
