One fix I do is to cut the legs off of a donor chip and solder them on top of the broken ones, giving you legs again.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Nice, I think I'll do this.

To protect the patches that will be on the bottom of the board, I put these spacers on the bottom. I actually have two more spacers mounted to the serial/printer port holes but they're not on the picture.

Alright, I've most finished the shopping list for the remaining parts. I'm just struggling a bit finding the right crystal (I can use the 2.xx one from the ST though, right?) and I don't see where to put the SIP9 caps...

Yeah, assume you mean the MFP one ? I am going to stock them in my store at some point..

SIP 9 caps ? There are SIL resistors.. mostly around the CPU area...

Yeah, the one near the MFP. The one from the shifter shield isn't going on the remake board because it would need an additional circuit, so I have to order an integrated one, right?

Silly me, I got mislead by the colour and the 105-style coding. I meant the one sitting below the WD1772 but I see that's just a resistor pack.

Got myself that Weller after all, really glad with it. Heats up from 18 to 370C in 47 seconds. The higher power (50% more) is also very helpful.
