Could there be any truth to this? What can they do to get through the registration process?samaron;1700264 wrote:I have tried to register on Exxos for a week now. Tried multiple different e-mails and had a friend try to register too. Same result every time, get an error stating there's a problem with a third party. Problems with registration?

Someone on another forum claimed they were having problems registering for Exxos Forum

Re: Problems with registration?
There is a problem raised yesterday in the moderator forum.
Since updating the stopforumspam extension on Friday, it's not connecting to their API anymore causing registration to fail. I've raised a ticket on the SFS GitHub about it last night.
But the thing is there, there wasn't any major updates at all. It just said better error log reporting.. I can only think àt this point my server IP has been banned. They use cloud flare... Which I'm already hate... So fixing it could be a bit of a problem in that case...

Re: Problems with registration?
@alexh If I know usernames of people trying to register it would help diagnose the problem and I could probably manual activate their accounts.
A lot of people are still trying to register with Hotmail even though it says in big red letters not to

Re: Problems with registration?
I was looking at ClourFlare again..
https://community.cloudflare.com/t/clou ... -ip/542685
Basically once you are on their block list, they are completely uninterested and farm the problems over to its users
Sounds like how evilbay operate et'al..
I will leave it for a couple of days and see if I get anywhere with SFS support first. Though I will likely have to port over to CleanTalk anti-spam protection like I did with the wiki registration and just avoid all the cloudflare BS again.

Re: Problems with registration?
From what I read into that post, cloudflare do not maintain the IP blacklist? Their customers/users do? (But I could be wrong)
So presumably in your case could that could be the stopforumspam plugin owners?

Re: Problems with registration?
I would presume cloudflare "flag up" the "bad" IPs and customers choose if to use that list and how strict they want to use that list by, and users can allow IP's or block them manually also. But the "master list" has to come from somewhere. Otherwise, how would customers know what IP's to ban ? Also in that case, there be no need for clouldflare if they had zero involvements in it all.alexh wrote: Mon Aug 12, 2024 11:22 am From what I read into that post, cloudflare do not maintain the IP blacklist? Similar with spamcop, they create the lists, but they don't block anything themselves, its users using spamcop lists who make the choice what to block. Its one of those annoying situations where spamcop do not block anything and pass the problem onto its users, which is technically true because the users are using their list, but again the users are using spamcops lists... so both, and neither are to blame kind of situation..
But yes, AIUI, Cloudflare have flagged my IP , and SFS have done the actual blocking based on that IP list provided by cloudflare. Maybe I am wrong, but eitherway , my IP appears blocked and it ultimately ends back with cloudflare again.
SFS would have to have to put my server IP in their "allow list".. If they are just "blindly" using a cloudflares IP block list, they might not even know how to do that, or even care to figure it out.
Meanwhile I have started installing the CleanTalk extensions as its used with the wiki anyway. As always, I don't hold out much hope of things getting fixed by third parties.
Re: Problems with registration?
It looks like the last registration flagged in the log was Sat Aug 03, 2024 4:28 am... I assume the SFS API died about that time as there are no usernames in the list at all after that date. I think it wasn't noticed because the errors were not logged until I updated the extension on Friday.
I have deleted all the accounts which did not complete registration in July and previously, and sent out registration reminders for inactive accounts for this month August). If the registration is not completed within 24 hours and those accounts will be the deleted as well.
SFS just replied:

So I don't think this problem is going to get resolved with SFS. It's a bit beyond call of duty for them to start battling all this Cloudflare BS like I have been. So it's just time to move on.I don't use anything from Cloudflare. I do know stopforumspam sites use Cloudflare though. I'll pink pedigree, maybe he knows something about the issue.
Re: Problems with registration?
I have installed CleanTalk on the forum now to take care of registration checks now.
I have noticed some spammers getting through recently, so hopefully things will be more fortified now as well.
I checked it worked...
So people who could not register before can try again now..
And for the millionth time, any Hotmail / microsoft domains etc are blocked and should not be used. Any future bounced domains will be added to the permanent blocked list from now on.
